How this site is made.
- Type
- Titles are set in Newsreader, prose in Inter, and the furniture (dates, tags, labels, this list's headings) in IBM Plex Mono. All three are open-licensed and served from Google Fonts.
- Colour
- Graphite sheet on a dark stone ground, amber for links and labels. The ground is a greyscale, low-contrast derivative of Marble 009 from ambientCG (CC0), chosen because it looks like the black bench tops in the chemistry labs of my youth.
- Form
- The page is a single sheet with tabs on its edge, after the lab notebooks I kept for years and still have. The dashed line down the inner margin stands in for the binding until I replace it with something hand-stitched.
- Build
- Static HTML generated by Jekyll from Markdown, built and served by Cloudflare Pages on every push to the main branch. No JavaScript, no analytics, no cookies, no tracking of any kind.
- Source
- The site's source is public at github.com/Zhinjio/markbreitenbach.dev. The writing is all rights reserved; the layout and styles you are welcome to learn from.
- Feed
- Every note is published to an Atom feed. No newsletter, no cadence; a note appears when there is something worth writing down.
